Objectives

Technologies of Geographic Information capture and analysis like satellite imagery and GIS have offered to the scientific geo-community new opportunities for research. The Conference on Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing in Mountain Environment Studies - EnviroMount - is going to gather professionals from a range of scientific disciplines working in the mountains of the world. During the conference it is intended to review the state-of-the-art of GIS and RS in the mountain environment research. A range of specific topics will be addressed during plenary and poster sessions:

  • complexity of mountain environment,
  • man in the mountains,
  • future of mountain regions,
  • cartographic presentation of mountain research.

Welcome are researchers and professionals representing a range of environmental disciplines: geography, geology, biology, ecology, forestry, economy, spatial management, cartogrpahy and computer sciences, involved in studies of the mountain areas and using geographic information systems and remote sensing. Conference discussion and results may be of interest also for representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as local communities.
